Out With The Old In With The New ....

Out with the old, in with the new at Scents@No3! We’ve set our sights on not only refreshing our brand’s look but also intensifying our commitment to sustainability. Our goal for the new year was to adopt a more bespoke and eco-conscious approach, and that journey began in the last quarter of 2023 when we started exploring sustainable packaging solutions for our wax melts. Given that our wax melts need to be poured at high temperatures, finding the right packaging presented a unique challenge and significantly limited our options.

We initially experimented with cardboard boxes, but these proved unsuitable as they absorbed the fragrance oils from the wax. This caused the oil to seep through the cardboard, contaminating it and making the packaging non-recyclable. Additionally, other materials we considered simply couldn’t withstand the high pouring temperatures, leading them to melt or warp, which rendered them impractical.

After extensive research and trials, we discovered a company capable of manufacturing the perfect bespoke clamshell packaging for us. The clamshells are made with a minimum of 80% recycled material, which includes their own in-house recycled plastic (recyclate) that is granulated and returned to their extrusion partners. This is then blended with post-consumer waste, such as water bottles, to create the durable and eco-friendly material we now use for our packaging. The result is a product that can be reused and recycled, ensuring that we minimise plastic waste.

Once you've enjoyed the wonderful fragrance of your wax melts, simply wash the clamshell and place it in your home recycling bin. It's an easy and hassle-free way to recycle!
